rah rah

If you should know anything about me, it's my extreme lack of athleticism. I never played sports in school, did everything in my power to avoid/not participate PE, never played community sports at all (I wasn't allowed to when I showed brief interest in soccer because the parents were too out of control. I was quickly steered into the music department instead).

All of that being said, I do love one thing: a good letterman sweater. The need to earn and put patches on things was what drove me into the Girl Scouts for one year, and the fact that there was a garment reserved specifically for that purpose is fantastic.

I definitely wouldn't have admitted it when I was actually in high school, but I really love the WASP-y Ivy League preppy style, and for some reason I've always associated the All-Americanness of a letterman sweater with that. Like something a lesser Kennedy would wear prior to boarding a yacht on summer break from Cornell.

I had one when I was in high school that was from Ukiah high school, but somewhere along the way I lost it.  Something got me thinking about it, which led me to trolling etsy  and later ebay to see what they were going for these days. I have certain criteria, specifically pre-1970 and funny things that were lettered in, and not $85 for a sweater riddled with holes and stains. Surprisingly, that's hard to come by. Sweaters, though plentiful, are not cheap, especially in a size I can fit into.   After a few weeks of looking, I finally found one that fit all my bullet points, bid on it and won! It came out to under $30 with shipping!

my phone's camera has been terrible lately, please forgive.

I have no idea what "scholastic" would have represented but I'm assuming this guy was a mathlete or something equally dorky, and I'm happy to continue that. I'm currently looking for  a band patch in the same color scheme to put on it!
